You can control the vertical space between the lines of text in your document by setting the line spacing. Word has the feature through which you customize the default line and paragraph spacing. In order to show what I mean, I will exaggerate the word spacing here: Pretend this is a normal line in the document: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Normal spaces will be displayed as small raised dots, and you should see only one between words. Once you have customized your proofing options, Word will flag extra spaces as you type. If you want to manually put in a number, you can select Line Spacing Options at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
